✦ THE RUNES & ENCHANTMENT SYSTEM ✦
„A bare stone is merely a silent witness to the void. Only when you burn the ancient glyphs onto its surface does it begin to speak. But beware: the most powerful forces cannot be forced upon an ordinary crafting table.“
[cite_start]Runes (referred to in the game as Stone Items) are the absolute power carriers of the Mod [cite: 2077-2078]. To understand the system behind them, you must know a fundamental rule: The stones themselves are only the carriers (Vessels). [cite_start]The actual effects and magical powers come exclusively from the Enchantments that rest upon them [cite: 453-454, 1062, 1064]!
1. The Laws of Rune Enchantment
Enchanting Runes follows completely unique, strict rules that overturn conventional Minecraft balancing:
- ❌ No Book Magic: Rune enchantments are physically bound to the stone. They can never be found, generated, or transferred to enchanted books or anvils [cite: 1055, 1086].
- [cite_start]🛠️ The Crafting Table Barrier: While you can enchant Runes at the classic Minecraft crafting table [cite: 2100-2101], you can never reach the maximum enchantment levels there. [cite_start]The table rigorously caps the strength of Rune effects in the standard range [cite: 1045, 1066].
- [cite_start]💎 Power from the Void (Over-Level): The absolute highest levels of a Rune (such as extremely high status values or the legendary Amplify Level 100) do not exist as recipes in the normal survival mode [cite: 1050]. [cite_start]These divine Over-Level Runes can only be found in Resonance Boxes (Lootboxes) or acquired from the Echo Merchant [cite: 1045, 1342, 1344, 2438-2439].
2. The Three Fundamental Rune Classes
Depending on which glyph is etched onto your vessel, the Rune divides into one of three classes [cite: 1063]:
✦ Minor Runes (The Constant Companions)
- [cite_start]Effect: Grant you a flat, constant bonus to your passive attributes (e.g., $+3.0$ Armor or additional base damage) [cite: 409-410, 1064, 1091-1092]. They are stable and independent of your current level.
- [cite_start]Usable in: Minor-, Major-, and Milestone-slots of the Shrine GUI [cite: 1614].
✦ Major Runes (The Endgame Interfaces)
- Effect: Grant you a dynamic bonus that scales per level, but only starting from the level at which the Shrine slot is unlocked [cite: 1093-1094]. The further your own Minecraft level is above the slot's limit, the more powerful the effect becomes [cite: 1093-1094].
- [cite_start]Usable in: Major- and Milestone-slots [cite: 1614].
✦ Milestone Runes (The Active Spells)
- [cite_start]Effect: Grant you completely new, active abilities (Skills) [cite: 1066, 1413-1415]. [cite_start]Once active in the Shrine, you can assign them to your Actionbar in your inventory and unleash them by default using the keys R, G, and V in combat (including HUD cooldown display) [cite: 1461-1463, 1488-1495, 1506].
- [cite_start]Usable in: Exclusively Milestone-slots [cite: 1614].
3. The Amplify Enchantment (The Diminishing Curve)
[cite_start]In addition to the actual effect glyphs, there is a universal Rune enchantment called Amplify [cite: 1044, 2102]. [cite_start]It functions as a catalyst, enhancing the mathematical power of all other glyphs placed on the same Rune [cite: 1044, 2115].
- How it Works: Amplify utilizes an exponential curve with diminishing returns [cite: 1057-1059]. This means that the first levels massively boost you, but the curve flattens out in the high range (up to Level 100) to keep the game stable [cite: 1050].
- [cite_start]The Limit: The absolute, theoretical maximum of Amplify is a 2.0x Multiplier (+100% Effect Boost) and can never be exceeded [cite: 1058-1059].
4. The Cleansing Ritual (Making Runes Stackable Again)
Enchanted Runes are powerful, but they emit an energetic instability. [cite_start]This has a tangible drawback in the inventory: Enchanted Runes block each other and are absolutely not stackable (Maximum Stack: 1) [cite: 2088-2089].
If you want to clean up your inventory or have enchanted a Rune incorrectly, you can cleanse the glyphs:
- The Procedure: Take the enchanted Rune in hand and hold the right mouse button (Right-Click) for 2 seconds [cite: 2084-2085, 2086].
- [cite_start]What Happens: Your character performs a ritualistic grinding of the Rune [cite: 2091-2092]. [cite_start]After 2 seconds, all enchantments are cleanly removed from the stone [cite: 2093, 2097-2098].
- The Reward: The Shrine rewards you for releasing the energy: When the glyphs are destroyed, you receive a portion of the previously consumed Experience Points (XP) paid back directly to your account [cite: 2093, 2096-2097]!
- [cite_start]The Result: The Rune is completely clean again, loses its repair cost history, and is once again problematically stackable up to 64 times, ready for the next experiment [cite: 2088-2089, 2098].
5. 💠 Cluster Jewels
[cite_start]Cluster Jewels are the ultimate tools for Grid Architects [cite: 2173]. [cite_start]While a normal Rune only feeds a single effect into one Shrine slot, Cluster Jewels break the geometry of the Altar: They expand a single Shrine slot by up to 5 additional sub-slots [cite: 689-691, 2173]!
✦ Crafting
Unlike normal Runes, which you must almost exclusively find in the world, you can craft Cluster Jewels yourself. [cite_start]If you want to create a Cluster Jewel of a specific class, you must fill a workbench completely with 9 exactly identical, un-enchanted Runes of that class (9x Minor for a Minor Cluster, etc.) [cite: 128].
✦ Bundle Functionality in Inventory
[cite_start]Managing the sub-Runes within the Cluster Jewel happens directly in your normal game inventory via an intuitive "Backpack/Bundle" mechanic [cite: 2005-2006, 2010]:
- 📥 Inserting Runes: Hover a Rune with your mouse cursor, drag it over the Cluster Jewel, and Right-Click. [cite_start]The Jewel sucks the Rune into its core [cite: 2010-2012, 2022-2023]. (A colored durability bar shows you how many slots are already occupied) [cite_start][cite: 2049-2051].
- 📤 Removing Runes: Right-Click the Cluster Jewel with an empty mouse cursor. [cite_start]The Jewel then spits out the last inserted Rune (strict LIFO Principle / Last-In, First-Out) [cite: 2010-2012, 2029-2030].
✦ Enchanting Cluster Jewels
[cite_start]As if stacking Runes inside wasn't strong enough, you can also enchant Cluster Jewels [cite: 1897-1900, 2005-2006]! [cite_start]If you, for example, enchant a Cluster Jewel with Amplify, this enchantment curves the resonance of the entire Jewel and enhances all dormant sub-Runes inside simultaneously [cite: 1897-1900, 2115, 2181-2182]!
Warning regarding Level Requirement: Every sub-Rune placed in the Cluster Jewel generates immense thaumaturgical friction. [cite_start]The level requirement for the Jewel to become active in the Shrine is calculated from the highest contained Rune, but increases as a penalty by a strict +2 Level per inserted Rune [cite: 418-421, 2210-2212][cite_start]! If you overdo it with greed, the Jewel will extremely quickly exceed your current experience level and completely shut down [cite: 2172, 2176-2177].
